Can prostatitis cause infertility?

Prostatitis is often described as an infection of the prostate. It can also be an inflammation with no sign of infection. Just 5% to 10% of cases are caused by bacterial infection. Prostatitis may develop to the BPH and uremia, and the result of less forceful urination and residual urine. Prostatitis can also cause infertility, the explainations following as:

1.Changing the ingredients of sperm fluid

The prostatic fluids will appear along with the bacteria and virus when someone have the prostatitis, which will consume the nutritious materials needed by the sperm, then decrease the vigor of the sperm.

2.Changing the quantity of sperm

The experts stated that the fluid flowing from the prostate is the important ingredients of the semen, the quantity of sperm will be less if there is something wrong with the prostate. The fewer quantities of sperm will lead to the changing of quantity of the sperm liquid. The infertility will come in being when the quantity of semen is above 8ml or below 1ml.

3.Making the sperm fluid too dry

Male experts mentioned that the semen is produced by the prostate, the sperm liquid factor will be destroyed if the prostatitis appeared. The increased concentration of the sperm will influence the normal movement of them ,  then lessen combining with the egg.

4.Causing sexual dysfunction

Shenzhen humanitarian hospital experts point out that prostatitis can cause sexual dysfunction disease such as impotence, premature ejaculation.  These diseases will affect the normal male sex, hinder the sperm egg, resulting in male infertility

5.Changing the ph of semen

Under normal circumstances, prostate fluid is alkaline, so the semen is alkaline. When inflammation of the prostate appeared, sometimes alkaline material increase as prostate fluid increasing in acid. Then the semen ph will change, resulted in lower the vigor of the sperm.

The treatment of prostatitis

Anti-inflammatory medicines like Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill is the most conservative treatment for prostatitis.

Antibiotic medicine for infectious prostatitis. These drugs are not effective treatments for noninfectious prostatitis.
Pain medications.
Muscle relaxants.

Surgical removal of the infected portions of the prostate. A doctor may advise this treatment for severe cases of prostatitis or for men whose swollen prostate is blocking the flow of urine.
