1 Definition

Prostatitis refers to the acute and chronic inflammation of the prostate gland induced by specific and non-specific infection, which leads to systemic or local symptoms.

2 Types

The term prostatitis actually encompasses five disorders: non-specific bacterial prostatitis; idiopathic bacterial prostatitis (also known as prostate disease); specific prostatitis ( induced by gonococcus, tubercle bacillus, fungus, and parasite etc.)；non-specific granuloma prostatitis; prostatitis , prostatic congestion and prostatodynia induced by other pathogens such as virus, mycoplasma, chlamydia and so on.
